Another one of those conversations…
July 24, 20084:30pm at my desk, doing some cash flow management. I was deep in thought when the phone rang.
Me: Hello?….
Bella: Hi Dad.
Me: Who’s this?
Bella: Oh. May I speak to my dad?
Me: (Snickering) And your dad is?….
Bella: Daaaaaaaad!!!! I know your voice okay?
Me: (Chuckling) How are baby girl?
Bella: I’m fine. Look I’ve gotta ask you something.
Me: Okay?…..
Bella: Do you think that Susan (Narnia character) is a teenager or a kid?
Me: Don’t tell me you’ve been thinking bout this the whole day?
Bella: Well, no. Not all day.
Me: Yeah, just most of it right?
Bella: Yeah, so what do you think?
Me: (smacking forehead) Bella, you’ve been asking me this for the past two weeks or so, I can’t believe that you’re still at it. What exactly does this mean to you?
Bella: Nothing, I just want to know.
Me: Okay. In my opinion she’s gotta be a teenager.
Bella: Okay…….hmmmm……what about Prince Caspian, you think he’s an adult or a teenager.
Me: What do their ages have to do with anything?
Bella: Well, you see if Susan is a teenager, and Prince Caspian is an adult then, they…
they……
…….ewwwwww!
Me: Oh so now I get it. Did Caspian and Susan kiss???
Bella: Yes.
Me: I knew it. I knew there had to be some icky reason for you to be so interested.
I am beginning to wonder if all girls were this obsessed with having boyfriends at the age of 8. In truth, an officemate of mine researched it and found out that both Susan and Caspian were but 13 years old! 13!!!!!! That’s too young!!!! What the hell are two 13 year olds doing kissing? That’s like saying I’ve got five more years!!! Oh man! That’s one fact that Bella will have to find out on her own! She ain’t getting that out of me. Imagine what ideas would be running through her head if she knew.
Having these conversations constantly is like a lit fuse headed to the cellar that is full of barrels of gunpowder. I just know this is going to be an explosive issue later on. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Posted by Joyce at July 24, 2008, 6:21 pmHmmm, don’t know Ade, no ones pretty sure about it. Some say he’s 10 to 13, others say, older. but I guess, no matter how old he is, he’s still kissed a 13 year old. Some people go to jail for that. Hahahaha!
Joyce, I admit at that age, I was all over our subdivision and trying out lots of things, including smoking, and liquor. Nothing serious really, as they really taste bad for an 8 year old. But see what kids do when their parents are not looking? Or was that only me? Hmmmm……….Hahahahaha!
Posted by ramblingvirus at July 25, 2008, 7:55 amwhen i was 8, i just wanted to be 9. i thought life could be better. imagine my surprise. haha.
Posted by Vandal Box at July 27, 2008, 4:01 pmHahahaha! Yep, isn’t it ironic that kids spend so much time wishing they were older, only to realize that they want to stay in that stage forever once they hit adulthood?
Life is soooooo much simpler when you’re a kid.
