Reading List
July 6, 2008After finishing most of the books I bought last year, (Except the Clan of the Cave Bear, which somehow seems to always be left behind. Still trying to get the inspiration to begin reading it again), I was left with nothing more to peruse when it suits my fancy.
So I began to ask friends again for their suggestions of what would be a good book to read. I got a couple of good leads from this childhood friend of mine (thanks Kara!), since she knew that I love psychology. I have seen this book since it first came out and it intrigued me but needed confirmation from a friend. Anyway, armed with an idea of what to buy. I went to Trinoma with Cocoy (only because I haven’t been to this mall yet. It was a good experience, mainly because there were a lot of hot women that time! Woooohooo!) and bought me four books.
Anyway, I was able to buy, “The Tipping Point” and “Blink” by Malcolom Gladwell at Powerbooks, Trinoma. And of course a couple of Coelho books (My apologies to Fully Booked, but you guys always seem not to be around when I’m in the mood to buy books).
I was all ready to read (in fact I started to read Blink first while waiting for Cocoy to arrive at the mall) and really was excited to go home after, for a night of relaxed reading. Lo and behold, I get another surprise. Igor has not had a nanny for the last week and ex was asking me a favor if he could stay with me for the whole week while she tries to hire a nanny for him. Needless to say, I wasn’t about to squander this opportunity to spend time with the “gugu bear”. So I quickly jumped at it.
So here I am with both kids, we are all coughing by the way. It builds up into a nice crescendo and gets topped off by one of us puking (that’s an exageration….well not anymore as it just happened tonight). But we are basically alright and happy.

It’s about that two second gut feel that you have when you encounter an object (say an art form), a circumstance or a person. Interesting read. I probably should have read half of the book but the kids being at home makes it impossible to concentrate. Hehehehe
Yep, I’ve read the road less traveled. Actually somebody borrowed it from me and it has not been returned.
Peck!

Sorry dear readers, just a li’l inside joke.
Blink’s a good read…the power of thinking without thinking…now if only it could help end the dry spell…or has it already ended… wahahahaha… are you also into fiction?
Posted by Joyce at July 7, 2008, 6:16 pmnah, this el nino somehow is the longest one! Sigh…..but not really looking. Mind over matter, my mind is stronger than the body. I will get through this yet! hehehehe.
Yep, I have read a lot of fiction as well. Though lately, I have not been adventurous in choosing the fictional books I will read.
Think! Think! Think! Hehehe. I’ll buy that one.
You will buy that one for me! Hahahaha! I have not had a chance to read these past days, well for reasons indicated in my latest entry. But I will get to it once everything settles down.

What’s Blink all about anyway, and is it good? I keep seeing it whenever I go to the bookstore.
As for psychology books, “Road Less Traveled” by M Scott Peck is probably among the best.
