What Matters
May 5, 2008Am not really in the mood to write, but I figured I owe Igor this one. It was his birthday yesterday. Turned two so the kids and I together with ex went out.
The boy loves animals. He’ll sit still and watch Animal Planet with me anytime. Occassionally, pointing at the animals he sees. I figured since, he’s been to Ark Avilon, might as well go to Manila Zoo. It’s interesting how they have upgraded some of the facilities there. The biomes of the animals have been made suitable for their needs. However, those tiny cages where the monkeys stay would put a frown on animal rights groups. Too cramped and I pity them for being shoved inside such a tiny space.
Overall, the experience was alright I guess. The place needs more food choices and not just the carinderias (local cafeterias) inside. Bella, of course in her incorrigible manner, didn’t fail to remind me of how bored, thirsty, hungry and tired she is.
So with that said, we proceeded to Mall of Asia, where we had lunch at Pink Pepper, on the second floor of the Entertainment Mall, overlooking Manila Bay. We seated ourselves outside (so that I can smoke of course). Sun was shining bright, skies were all blue and wind blowing gently. Now, any place near a body of water is a guaranteed favorite of mine and to have lunch with the kids at such a setting really blows my mind away. Truth be told, I came home late the night before as I had to attend a wake of an aunt who passed away. I was tired, sleepy and was bordering on being ornery, but nothing beats seeing the kids’ expressions of awe and hearing their laughter.
Yep, these are the things that should matter, nothing more, nothing less.
